Claim the Federal Battery Rebate Now
Slash Thousands Off Your Home Battery Installation in 2025
The $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program is a new federal initiative designed to help Australian households and small businesses reduce the upfront cost of installing battery storage. Starting 1 July 2025, eligible battery systems will receive a 30% discount—based on usable battery capacity—helping families store clean, affordable solar energy for use when it’s needed most.
The program not only supports those who install batteries, but it also helps reduce energy costs for everyone by decreasing the need for expensive gas generation and large-scale grid infrastructure. The rebate will gradually decrease in value until 2030.
Let Lenergy help you claim your rebate and enjoy the benefits of energy independence, lower power bills, and a more sustainable future.

Am I Eligible for the Federal Battery Rebate?
To qualify for the 2025 Cheaper Home Batteries Program, your battery installation must meet the following criteria:
Capacity: The battery must have a nominal capacity between 5 kWh and 100 kWh.
Usable Capacity Discount: The rebate applies to up to 50 kWh of usable capacity.
Type: Eligible systems include:
- A single battery unit
- A modular system of batteries connected to function as one unit
Expansion of Existing Systems: If adding capacity to an existing battery system that hasn’t previously received a rebate under this program:
- The additional capacity must be at least 5 kWh
- The total system capacity must not exceed 100 kWh
-
One Rebate per Premises: Only one battery installation per premises is eligible for the rebate.
The battery must be installed with an existing or new solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
Battery-only installations (without solar PV) are not eligible
Approved Products: Both the battery and inverter must be listed on the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved product list.
Accredited Installers: Installation must be performed by, or under the supervision of, an installer accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA).
On-Grid Systems: Must be capable of being coordinated through a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Participation in a VPP is not mandatory.
Off-Grid Systems: Eligible if:
- Located at least 1 km from the nearest main-grid line, or
- Connecting to the grid would cost more than $30,000, as evidenced by the local network service provider.
-
The battery system must be installed on or after 1 July 2025.
‘Installed’ is defined as the date when a certificate of electrical compliance (or equivalent) is signed, confirming the system complies with relevant electrical safety regulations.
Written Statements: Retailers and installers must provide written statements detailing:
- Technical details of the installation
- Confirmation that safety and accreditation requirements were met
- Potential energy savings and payback periods
Inspections: Installations may be subject to inspections to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Compliance with Laws: The system and installation must comply with all relevant state and territory laws, including electrical safety regulations and Australian Standards.
