Lenergy Review: Burradoo Solar
John Kane said no to a battery for years. When he first put solar on his north-facing home in Burradoo, he looked at a battery and decided against it. Then he did the sums on his gas bills, and everything changed. This Lenergy review tells his story: solar first, a battery later, and honest advice at every step.
Here is what it covers:
- why he held off on a battery at first
- what finally changed his mind
- what his power bills look like now
- why he kept going back to Lenergy
Why did he hold off on a battery at first?
John was sold on solar early. His place faces north, which is close to ideal for a solar roof in Australia, so the panels were an easy call. The battery was not. When he first went solar a couple of years ago, he decided against storage. At the time, in his words, it was not clearly worth it yet.

What changed his mind?
Gas. John sat down and did the sums on his gas heating and gas hot water. Once he decided to drop the gas and run the whole house on electricity, the battery made sense. The way he saw it, going all-electric meant far more of his daily power use could be carried by solar and storage, so adding a battery to his existing solar was the next logical step.
“Once we did that, it was pretty much a no-brainer,” he says.
What do his power bills look like now?
The drop came fast. When John first put solar on, his bills fell sharply, especially through the sunny months. Now the battery is in, alongside the other electric upgrades, he is expecting significant savings on top of that.

Why did he choose Lenergy?
It started over a coffee. A friend recommended Lenergy, and one person in particular: Lincoln, the system designer who came out to the house.
What stood out to John was how straight Lincoln was with him. He did not push. He did not tell John to rip out the gas heating. His advice was simple: put the panels on first, see how you go, and add a battery later if it stacks up.
“He was like, put the panels on, see how you go. You can go the full hog with batteries if you want, but at this point it’s probably a little unclear whether that’s effective or not,” John recalls. “I just found him very straight ahead.”
That honesty is exactly why John came back. Lincoln had been upfront that a battery might not be worth it yet, so when the time finally came, returning to Lenergy was obvious. If you are weighing storage, that same candour is worth seeking out, and our guide to the mistakes to avoid when buying a solar battery covers what to ask.
How did the installations go?
Both jobs were Lenergy. They installed his original solar, and he came back to them to put the battery in. He describes the battery installation as excellent, with no problems at all.
Would he recommend Lenergy?
Yes. John has already recommended Lenergy to his neighbours across the road. He likes that the company has grown and hires good people.
“Yeah, for sure,” he says.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Lenergy a good solar and battery installer?
In John Kane’s experience, yes. He used Lenergy for his original solar, came back for his battery, and reports no problems with either install. What he valued most was honest, no-pressure advice rather than a hard sell.
Should I get solar first and a battery later?
It can be a sensible order, and it is the path John took. Solar on its own cuts your daytime bills. A battery makes most sense once you know your usage and, as in John’s case, once more of your home runs on electricity. A good installer will tell you straight whether storage is worth it for you yet.
Does going all-electric make a home battery more worthwhile?
Often, yes. Once your heating and hot water run on electricity instead of gas, more of your energy use can be covered by solar and a battery. That was the turning point that made the numbers work for John.
What do Lenergy customers say about the company?
Customers like John point to straightforward advice, clean installs, and staff who do what they say. He has since recommended Lenergy to his own neighbours.
